JAJI, KADUNA STATE – Speaking at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, delivered a compelling address during the 2024 Senior Course 46 Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency in Nigeria (CTCOIN) Seminar. Minister Badaru underscored the crucial role of strategic leadership in shaping military operations, urging officers to prioritize professionalism and excellence in their duties.

Acknowledging the persistent challenges posed by insurgency, the Minister commended the dedication and sacrifices of the Armed Forces in safeguarding national security. He reiterated the Federal Government's steadfast commitment to defeating insurgency through a comprehensive security strategy and community engagement.

Minister Badaru called for a comprehensive government approach, emphasizing the importance of intelligence-driven operations and the protection of civilian populations in counter-insurgency and anti-banditry efforts. He highlighted the need for strong partnerships with local communities, international allies, and other security agencies to bolster collective security endeavors.

Expressing satisfaction with the current focus on joint operations by the Service Chiefs, Minister Badaru encouraged innovative thinking and adaptability among military personnel. However, he emphasized the imperative of upholding ethics, standards, and core values within the military, underscoring the importance of integrity and honor for maintaining trust and cohesion.

In a parallel development, the Minister meticulously inspected facilities for the training and equipping of the first batch of 800 personnel as a SPECIAL OPERATION FORCE for the Armed Forces of Nigeria. This comprehensive examination included accommodation, catering facilities, classrooms, shooting ranges, and other crucial training infrastructure at Camp Kabala.

Particularly noteworthy was the Minister's inspection of the Command Centre for NIGCOY 2 United Nations Information Special Force (UNISFA), dedicated to the mission in Abyei, South Sudan. Minister Badaru expressed satisfaction with the progress, reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to enhancing military capabilities and fostering a culture of excellence within the armed forces.
